Holiday in Isabela tomorrow

The Philippine Star

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines - – Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy III has declared Jan. 30 a non-working holiday throughout the province to give residents the opportunity to take part in the annual celebration of the Bambanti Festival with this year’s theme “Flying High.”

Through Executive Order 2014-8, Dy proclaimed Jan. 30 as Bambanti Festival Day, which will be the highlight of the five-day festivity which kicked off on Monday.

The annual Bambanti (Scarecrow) Festival is a tribute to Isabelinos’ hard work, diligence and resilience in making the province a consistent top producer of rice and corn in the country, Dy said in his order.

“The yearly festivity is being celebrated primarily as a common gesture of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest and the resiliency of the Isabelinos amid the natural calamities hitting the province almost every year,” he said. – Charlie Lagasca, Raymund Catindig
