Canadian admits hiding child in Dumaguete from Brazilian ma
MANILA, Philippines - A Canadian father on Tuesday admitted to allegations that he harbored his Brazilian daughter in Dumaguete City out of contempt of the child's mother, his mistress.
According to Canadian daily StarPhoenix, 47-year-old Alexander Fiodor Levin said before a Saskatoon provincial court that he wanted the Brazilian mother to be deprived of the child's custody as he believes the woman cheated on him with three other men.
Levin also admitted that he left his daughter in Dumaguete with a near-stranger, saying he was heartbroken from his mistress' infidelity.
Present to hear the court proceedings were Levin's legal wife and four other children.
He added that he met the Brazilian Oziene Barbosa on Facebook and had a three-year affair with her until she gave birth to a child, Ieda Alexandra Levin.
The accused was said to have taken his toddler child without Barbosa's approval.
Levin was initially accused of abduction after 2-year-old Ieda Alexandra was located in October last year in Negros city where she was living with a seamstress. Levin would send money and supplies from Canada.
The provincial judge will rule on Levin's sentence on Wednesday.
Levin, meanwhile, admitted to fathering another child with a separate Brazilian woman.
