US envoy to lead turnover of market, bridge in ComVal

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – US Ambassador Philip Goldberg will lead today’s turnover of a public market and a bridge in the town of Compostela, Compostela Valley.

The construction of the market was funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The new structure replaced the old market that was destroyed by Typhoon Pablo in December  2012.

The new market would serve as a center of trade and commerce for farmers as well as other agriculture producers in the area, said USAID, which provided technical assistance in the construction of the market.

Goldberg will also inspect a bridge the USAID rehabilitated after it was also destroyed by Pablo.

Local officials, led by Compostela Valley Gov. Arthur Uy, would meet Goldberg in today’s ceremonies.
