Taguig police judged 'most efficient' in south Manila
MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig City Police Station bested six other police units in south Metro Manila under the Southern Police District (SPD) in terms of crime solution and clearance efficiency by solving more crimes for the past year.
Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano lauded the city police led by Senior Supt. Arthur Felix Asis, saying the strong support and cooperation the local police force get from the city government have proven to be beneficial to the community.
“In Taguig, we put a premium on the maintenance of peace and order. Not only does it keep our citizens safe, but it also provides peace of mind to the business community,†Cayetano said.
“I congratulate our brave men and women of the Taguig City Police Station for a job well done last year. For this year, let us strive to do better in making Taguig a safe place for our residents and business partners," she added.
Based on the SPD report, the Taguig City Police Station scored a 79 percent success rate in its Crime Solution Efficiency after solving 15,563 cases in 2013. This means that the city had the most number of solved crimes among the stations under SPD, followed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) units of Pateros and Pasay. Other SPD units include that of Makati, Parañaque, Muntinlupa and Las Piñas.
Also, the Taguig PNP posted an impressive Crime Clearance Efficiency of 86.2 percent when it cleared 16,129 cases which ranked them as the top police station in the SPD.
Asis said a crime is considered solved when the suspect is identified, the case is filed in court, and the suspect is detained or arrested. On the other hand, a crime is considered cleared when the case is filed in court but the identified suspect remains at-large.
Over the years, the city of Taguig had been consistent in improving its image and putting a stronger fight against crimes.
In fact, in 2010, the Taguig City Police station added more personnel which came directly from the PNP. The city government during Cayetano’s first term also bought more police cars and strengthened the Peace and Order and Safety Office and the Traffic Management Office.
