Amihan chills Manila, Baguio below 20 degrees

MANILA, Philippines - After having two relatively warmer days, Metro Manila againt experienced a below 20-degree temperature Thursday morning as the northeast monsoon continues to blow.

PAGASA weather forecaster Joey Figuracion said that 19.7 degree Celsius was recorded in Manila between 5:00 to 6:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The reading was a drop from the 21.5 degrees Celsius recorded last Wednesday and 20.7 degrees Celsius last Tuesday.

This season's coolest recorded temperature in Manila, meanwhile, was Saturday at 17.5 degrees.

Social media users are also noting the temperature differences.

Baguio City, the country's summer capital, is not getting any warmer either as it felt a 9.2-degree reading Thursday morning, Figuracion said.

The temperature was also lower compared to Wednesday's 11.4 degrees Celsius and Tuesday's 12.5 degrees.

Baguio City recorded its lowest temperature this season last Sunday morning (Jan.19) at 8.1 degrees Celsius.

Weather forecasters see cool days ahead until late February with the prevalence of northeast monsoon or Amihan descending from China.
