Abra village exec hurts cop, 2 more in party shooting
LA Trinidad, Benguet – A barangay councilor shot a policeman and two more persons during a party on Thursday night in Baay-Licuan town in Abra province.
JOseph Sales Daguio, 66, the town's ex-officio member and president of the Association of Barangay Councilors, was arrested after shooting the town's deputy police commander Police Officer 4 Nelson Espiritu Venus, 44, of Pilar town, also in Abra.
During the social gathering held at the town's Multi-Purpose Hall, Venus approached municipal accountant Grethel Garcia Sacragun and asked her for a dance.
Apparently irked by Venus' attempt to dance with the municipal accountant, Daguio pulled out a gun and fired at the police officer several times.
Police said Catalino Gandeza Gaboy, 46, the town's administrative officer and barangay kagawad Gerardo Molina Bernal, 38 were hurt after attempting to pacify Daguio.
The elderly councilman was arrested by the police right after the shooting incident.
Police recovered four cartridges for .45 pistol from the crime scene.
