2 nabbed for illegal possession of firearms

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a suspected gun runner and seized several firearms in separate raids in Nueva Ecija, Surigao and Sarangani province, the Philippine National Police said on Wednesday.

A team of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group nabbed Primitivo Estacio last Jan. 14 during the implementation of a search warrant issued by a Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court at at Brgy. Pantok Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.

During the operation, police confiscated a Colt M-16 armalite rifle, a homemade cal. 357 revolver, five magazines for M16, and 45 live bullets for M16.

In another raid on the same day, authorities also implemented search warrant issued at Surigao City against Agkhan Palaga Owad Manangkitan at KM 3 Brgy. Luna Surigao City.

Police recovered eight pieces magazine assembly for M16 armalite rifle, 172 live bullets for M16 armalite rifle and  black bandolier.

Police are now readying illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charges against Estacio and Manangkitan.
