MALOLOS CITY, Philippines - – The Bulacan police and the Philippine Postal Corp. (PhlPost) are conducting separate investigations of an alleged robbery of a diamond ring at the Paombong post office last week.
The ring, reportedly worth $1,200, was sent from the United States early this year.
Town postmaster Remedios Lopez said they received the package on Jan. 6.
The parcel was addressed to a certain Rebecca Nabong, of Barangay Sto. Niño, whom Lopez said, she informed about tax dues amounting to P27,000.
Lopez kept the parcel in her office as Nabong had yet to raise the P27,000.
On the same day, an employee identified as Esmeralda Escopete found the doorknob and the lock in Lopez’s office destroyed. Only Nabong’s parcel was missing, an investigation showed.
