MANILA, Philippines - Traffic enforcers apprehended and cited former Davao City mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio for a traffic violation.
Reports said that Carpio, daughter of incumbent mayor Rodrigo Duterte, was flagged down by traffic officers and cited for overspeeding.
Carpio was reportedly driving 57 kilometers per hour, which is over the 40 kph speed limit in the city.
Traffic enforcers confiscated her driver's license and was issued a ticket, the reports said. Carpio got her license back after paying the fine.
A tough-talking Carpio hogged the headlines in 2011 after punching a court sheriff during a violent demolition in the city.
Two years earlier, her father was also apprehended by authorities for not wearing the required protective helmet while riding his motorcycle.
