Devotees try to cross MacArthur Bridge, follow original route

MANILA, Philippines - Thousands of devotees following the carriage of Black Nazarene tried to force their way to the MacArthur Bridge in Manila despite the large steel container vans blocking the way.

Reports said that despite being earlier informed that carriage of the religious icon could no longer cross MacArthur Bridge, which has been undergoing repairs, the devotees proceeded and attempted to follow the original route of the procession.

Some100 policemen ere detailed in the area to prevent the droves of devotees from putting aside the two large container vans to let the carriage of the Black Nazarene.

However, the procession was diverted again to Jones Bridge as they could no longer move the large container vans at the foot of the McArthur Bridge, reports said.
