Cop shot dead in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman assigned with the Quezon City Police was shot dead Wednesday morning in Barangay Central Signal Village in Taguig City.

Taguig Police chief Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis said Police Officer 1 Aldrin Lagwerta Castro, 25, of Mauling Creek Lower Bicutan was in uniform when he was shot in the head at around 5:30 a.m. at MRT Avenue corner Castañas Street.

Asis said the gunman was on board a motorcycle and fled from the scene taking with him Castro's service firearm.

He said the Taguig police has launched a hunt for the gunman as investigators try to find out the motive for the shooting.
