NCRPO: No intel on threats on Black Nazarene feast
MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has received no intelligence reports regarding any threats that would disrupt the celebration of the feast of the Black Nazarene on Jan. 9, an official said Monday.
NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Carmelo Valmoria said they have yet to get any information about threats on the day of the event.
"So far, wala tayong info ng threat na receive," he said.
He added that the NCRPO has no request for telecommunications companies to temporarily block their mobile phone signals in the Quiapo Church vicinity during the festivities to prevent any terror attacks such as bombing.
Valmoria said the NCRPO will provide augmentation forces to the Manila Police District to secure the event.
When asked how many would be the additional policemen to be deployed at the site to secure the feast of the Black Nazarene, Valmoria said "It's an operational matter . We cant provide said info."
