Zambo Norte village exec falls in drug buy-bust

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 39-year-old barangay councilman in Zamboanga del Norte was arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents in a drug buy-bust last Dec. 26, the agency said yesterday.

Citing reports, PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. said Glenn Pascual, a councilman of Barangay Mamawan in Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte, agreed to meet with a poseur-buyer in his village to sell four sachets of shabu in the morning of Dec. 26.

Upon receiving the marked money, Pascual was immediately collared by combined elements of PDEA-Region 9 under director Jeffrey Bangsa and the Provincial Public Safety Company.

Cacdac said Pascual, the top councilor of Barangay Mamawan, was the ninth “targeted drug personality for neutralization in the Zamboanga Peninsula.”

Pascual is facing charges for the sale and possession of dangerous drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, he said.
