MANILA, Philippines - As Metro Manila prepared for the New Year’s Eve celebration Tuesday, thieves reportedly tried to break into the automated teller machine of the GSIS Family Bank in Muntinlupa City.
Sr. Supt. Roque Vega, Muntinlupa Police chief, said the bank’s security guard, Jayson Satoros, discovered the door of the bank’s water pump room ajar when he made the rounds at about 10 a.m. The bank is located along the national road in Barangay Poblacion.
“The thieves made the mistake of breaking into the door leading to the bank’s water pump room instead of the one leading to the ATM,†said Vega.
Vega said the arrival of the roving security guard apparently spooked the thieves.
Vega however said responding police officers were able to recover fingerprints from the scene.
An investigation of the incident is now being conducted, Vega said.
