1 dead, 1 hurt in Parañaque traffic row
MANILA, Philippines - A shooting allegedly triggered by a traffic altercation in Parañaque City Tuesday between a police officer and a barangay official ended in the death of one and injury of two others.
A report reaching the Southern Police District said PO1 Michael Davila, detailed with the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group was aboard his motorcycle and was entering the La Huerta Public Market at about 6:40 a.m. when he was stopped by barangay executive officer Armando Concepcion for reportedly entering a one-way street.
According to the report, an altercation then erupted between Davila and Concepcion which allegedly ended with Davila firing his service pistol.
Concepcion, said the report, was hit and later died at the hospital. Also hurt in the shooting were Jose Concepcion and Maria Rosario Loares.
Davila meanwhile was rushed to the Dr. Bernabe Memorial Hospital after sustaining head wounds after he was attacked by the angry crowd following the shootings.
