John Unson - The Philippine Star

SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines – Two men riding a motorcycle together were killed in a highway accident Friday in Tupi, South Cotabato.

The fatalities, Jose Malicia and Romeo Vavilo, were on their way to Koronadal City from the town proper of Tupi when their motorcycle collided head-on with a Hyundai Accent car coming from the opposite direction of a secluded stretch of the Koronadal-Gen. Santos Highway.

Malicia and Vavilo both died while being rushed to a hospital, investigators said.

The driver and passengers of the car that rammed the victims’ motorcycle were also hurt in the collision.

Investigators said Malicia, who was driving the motorcycle, tried to overtake another vehicle while on a sharp curve when the car from the other side of the highway appeared suddenly and hit the bike.
