School principal hacked to death

John Unson - The Philippine Star

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines - A still unidentified suspect hacked dead late Friday a public school principal in Arakan, North Cotabato, police said.

Senior Inspector Ronnie Oranza, chief of the Arakan municipal police, said the fatality, Renato De Pedro, succumbed while being rushed to a hospital by neighbors.

Witnesses said De Pedro’s attacker, armed with a machete, escaped om the dark after sensing that responding neighbors and barangay officials were closing in.

De Pedro reportedly came out of the house to check on why their dogs were barking when a male suspect attacked from behind and hacked him repeatedly.

Investigators are still clueless on the identity of the suspect and his motive for killing De Pedro.a
