TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines - – Municipal employees of San Emilio town in Ilocos Sur may not have a merry New Year after burglars carted away nearly P700,000 intended for their holiday bonuses, police said.
Superintendent Marlo Castillo, spokesman of the Ilocos Sur police, said the robbers gained entry into the office of municipal treasurer Rosita Siniclang by destroying the steel grills and sliding window.
The money was reportedly kept in a drawer in Siniclang’s table after it was withdrawn from the bank.
