Village exec, pal arrested in drug sting
ILOILO CITY , Philippines – A barangay councilman and his friend were arrested in a drug bust operation in Jaro, Iloilo City Monday night.
Gannibal Umadhay of Barangay Benedicto and Noel Demaala reportedly yielded six plastic sachets believed containing shabu, according to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional director Paul Ledesma.
The PDEA said two of Umadhay siblings were allegedly arrested years ago for the same offense.
Meanwhile, the city police had been ordered to step up the campaign against illegal drugs, particularly during the holidays and the approaching Dinagyang Festival in January.
To boost the anti-illegal drug campaign, 50 personnel from the regional headquarters will be deployed in the city, according to Chief Superintendent Josephus Angan, director of the Police Regional Office 6.
