Teacher gunned down by nephew

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - - A teacher was gunned down by his own nephew after the former reprimanded the suspect in a village of Dinas town, Zamboanga del Sur,  a police officer said Tuesday.

Police identified the fatality as Cayetano Ferrer Igano, 46, married and a teacher in the local school and resident of Purok 5, Barangay Legarda 3, while the suspect was his nephew Ronald Aranas Igano, 22, and a farmer.

Dinas police disclosed that the victim lashed out at  his nephew  after suspecting the latter of being responsible for the poisoning of two piglets.

The police said the suspect quickly got his .45 caliber pistol and shot the victim several times. The victim died on the spot.

The suspect fled. The police have launched a manhunt for his arrest in Dinas town.
