ZAMBOANGA CITY , Philippines – The Alsons Power Group is committed to ensuring full construction of its ongoing generating plant projects in Mindanao with capacity to produce 463 megawatts (MW) of electricity that will account for more than a fourth of the island’s peak electricity demand by 2016.
Joseph Nocos, Alsons Power’s vice president for project development, assured the Zamboanga City council in a special session last week that his firm would do everything to ensure that by 2016, the Zamboanga City Electrical Cooperative will have access to baseload capacity generated by Alsons Power as agreed upon in the power sales agreement.
“Our commitment to the people and the city of Zamboanga remains steadfast,†Nocos told the city council.
The Alsons Power Group is the developer of the prospective 105-MW San Ramon Power, Inc. coal-fired plant in Talisayan, Zamboanga City and controls and operates the 100-MW Western Mindanao Power Corp. diesel plant in Sangali, Zamboanga City.
