John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – The provincial treasurer of Maguindanao and his two police escorts were wounded in an ambush at past 2 p.m. yesterday in Guindulungan town.

Initial reports reaching the police headquarters of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in Camp S.K. Pendatun said Osmenia Bandila and his escorts were riding a Toyota Fortuner on their way to Buluan town from Cotabato City when they were attacked.
The group is reportedly carrying an undetermined amount of payroll money.

Bandila’s escorts were identified only as PO1 Tan and PO1 Dalit.

The unidentified gunmen, who witnesses said, were on board a Toyota Tamaraw jeepney with license plates MVK-846, shot Bandila’s vehicle, triggering a gunfight.

The suspects fled after they ran out of ammunition.

Investigators have yet to determine if the gunmen managed to take the payroll money Bandila and his escorts were to bring to the Maguindanao satellite office in Buluan town.
