2 die in Benguet highway accidents

LA Trinidad, Benguet – Two persons were killed in separate highway mishaps along the Benguet highway system Thursday night.

The fatalities were identified as Rogelio Andiso Dagupen, 52, of Balakbak, Kapangan and Joseph Antonio Atas, 35.

Police said Dagupen died after an Isuzu dump truck (RBR 460) driven by Janton Tangaan Pilayen, 22, fell into a n 80-meter deep ravine along the highway in Suyoc, Caponga, Tublay town at around 10:30 p.m.

Dagupen died while being treated at the Benguet General Hospital.

Two hours later, a Ford Fiera with plate number ACK 194 driven by Albert Antonio Lawa alias “Supite” also dived into a 10-meter ravine along Man-atong Road in Baculongan Norte, in Buguias town.

Atas, one of the passengers of the Ford Fiera, died while being rushed to the Lutheran Hospital in Abatan town.

The othes passengers identified as Goyab Antonio, 54; Josie Wakit Atas, 31, and the driver were hurt.
