Boholanos still feel aftershocks

MANILA, Philippines - State seismologists said aftershocks continue to occur in Central Visayas, nearly two months after the magnitude-7.2 earthquake struck the region.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said an aftershock was recorded at 9:51 a.m. yesterday with its epicenter traced at 27 kilometers northwest of Tagbilaran City in Bohol.

It was reportedly felt at Intensity III in Tagbilaran City and Intensity II in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Phivolcs said the tremor did not cause any damage or injuries.

The agency had recorded over 4,000 aftershocks since Oct. 15 when a magnitude-7.2 quake shook Bohol killing more than 200 people.

Phivolcs had said the tremor was caused by a blind fault, called the North Bohol Fault.
