LPA trough to bring rains over Eastern Visayas, Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines - The northeast monsoon is affecting northern Luzon while the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will bring rains over parts of Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) said the regions of Caraga and Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
The regions of Cagayan, Cordillera and Ilocos and the province of Aurora will be cloudy with light rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
According to PAGASA, the LPA will be named "Alamid" once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility and strengthens into a tropical depression.
The weather bureau is expecting one or two tropical cyclones to enter the country this month.
In its advisory, PAGASA said that moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
PAGASA also warned of gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon affecting the northern seaboard of northern Luzon.
"Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said.
