MANILA, Philippines - Rescue efforts for the 10 fishermen stranded off Recto Bank in Palawan have been hampered by bad weather, the military said yesterday.
The Armed Forces’ Western Command (Wescom) is sending a larger vessel to the area since the patrol boat tasked to rescue the fishermen had encountered huge waves.
“We have dispatched a ship but because of the sea condition, it was not able to perform the task so we are compelled to send a larger ship,†Wescom spokesperson 1Lt. Cherryl Tindog said.
“In the meantime, we are sending them (fishermen) supplies and medicine,†she added.
The patrol boat sent to assist the fishermen will undergo minor repairs.
