Cash donations for 'Yolanda' victims stolen from church

MANILA, Philippines - Cash donations intended for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in Eastern Visayas were stolen from a church in Agusan del Sur, police reported Friday.

Police said that one of the suspects, a minor, has been arrested. The suspect has pointed to a certain Paquito as his accomplice.

Father Artemio Jusayan, parish priest of the Carmelite Convent of the Sacred of Jesus Christ, told police investigators that he discovered the break-in at around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Jusayan said the robbers destroyed the office window of the Church in Purok 3, Barangay 3, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur and took the cash donations from the cashier and finance office.

The suspect has has been turned over to the San Francisco Municipal Social Work and Development Office.
