P’sinan donates P4 M for Yolanda victims
LINGAYEN, Philippines - – The provincial government of Pangasinan is donating P2 million each to the provinces of Leyte and Tacloban City to help the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.
The provincial board has approved a resolution authorizing Gov. Amado Espino Jr. to source the amount from the province’s calamity fund.
The resolution, authored by board member Clemente Arboleda with all the board members as co-authors, said Pangasinan’s humanitarian gesture would benefit thousands of families.
Earlier, the earthquake-hit province of Bohol received P2-million cash donation from Pangasinan. Arboleda personally turned over the financial assistance to Bohol officials.
In December 2012, the provincial government gave P1 million for the victims of Typhoon Pablo in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental.
In 2011, the province also donated P2 million for the victims of Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro City.
Espino said the provincial government would forego its traditional Christmas party next month as funds intended for the affair would be donated to the victims of the recent calamities.
