Cagayan villages still have no power

Charlie Lagasca - The Philippine Star

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Power has yet to be restored in several villages in northern Cagayan more than a week after Typhoon Vinta battered the region.

Reports said that electricity have yet to be fully restored in the towns of Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Aparri, Lallo and Gattaran.

Gonzaga Mayor Carlito Pentecostes Jr. said only those along the national highway or in the town proper have electricity.

Early reports said that the Cagayan’s electric cooperative needs a few more days to fully restore power throughout the province, which has been placed under a state of calamity due to the damage it suffered from Vinta.

Reports said the typhoon destroyed 110 electric posts, cable lines and other power facilities.
