Poll bet supporters torch daycare center
MAGUINDANAO, Philippines - – Followers of a defeated candidate in the recent barangay elections set on fire a daycare center in Montawal town Monday night.
The suspects were reportedly supporters of former village chief Maotan Dalimbang Kasim, who lost his bid for the chairmanship of Barangay Nabundas, and his sibling Tatoh, according to Capt. Tony Bilao, spokesperson for the Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade.
Bulao said local officials confirmed that the Kasim siblings are members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
He said his superior, Brig. Gen. Ademar Tomaro, would report the incident to the joint ceasefire committee of the government and the MILF.
