MANILA, Philippines - Transport group Piston on Tuesday called on the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and the Supreme Court to look into the incident involving the chief of staff and son of Batangas 3rd District Rep. Sonny Collantes who reportedly mauled an elderly jeepney driver in Pasig City.
Piston national president George San Mateo said that concerned government agencies should investigate the matter, urging the disbarment of lawyer King George Leandro Antonio Collantes, the lawmaker's son.
San Mateo also appealed to the Batangas legislator to let his son take responsibility to the mauling of jeepney driver Orlando Garcia, 66.
"Walang puwang na magsilbi sa pamahalaan partikular sa kongreso itong anak ni Cong. Collantes. Nanawagan kami sa Piston kay Cong. Collantes na sibakin niya agad itong anak niya bilang kanyang pagka-chief-of-staff," San Mateo added.
News reports said that the younger Collantes beat up the elderly jeepney driver during a traffic altercation in Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig City last Oct. 29.
The mauling happened in front of Garcia's grandson, reports said.
