Police official slain in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines - A police official was killed in an ambush in Quezo City on Friday night.

Investigators said Chief Inspector Romero Ricalde Jr. was driving home along a street in Barangay Pansol when unidentified gunmen fired at his vehicle.

Police said that Ricalde received death threats prior to the attack.

Investigators have yet to determine the identities of the gunmen.

Ricalde was head of the Northern Police District's Special Operations Unit.

The slain police official was also involved in anti-drug operations.
