NORTH COTABATO, Philippines - A total of 426 indigent villagers in Magpet town have availed themselves of free medical and dental services provided by the provincial government Thursday.
The humanitarian outreach mission in Barangay Del Pilar, a hinterland district in Magpet, was jointly facilitated by the office of North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, and the Army’s 57th Infantry Battalion.
Members of the Army's 7th Field Artillery Battalion also helped in the activity, which was preceded by more than a dozen other medical-dental missions the past three months in isolated villages under the 57th IB.
The spokesman of the 57th IB, 1Lt. Nash Sema, said more than 30 residents of Barangay Del Pilar have also been given free haircut by Army barbers.
Sema said the humanitarian project was a regular activity of Mendoza’s office under its 'Serbisyong Totoo' program.
Physicians and nurses from the North Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office helped serve the sick residents of Barangay Del Pilar that availed of the free medical services.
Medicines and vitamin supplements were also distributed to the patients, Sema said.
