MANILA, Philippines - The death toll in the 7.2 magnitude quake that struck Central Visayas Tuesday morning jumped to 172, the Philippine National Police said on Friday.
Based on the report by the PNP Region Police Office 7-Tactical Operations Center as of 2 p.m., another body was recovered from the devastation in Bohol province, which numbered at 160.
The number of people who were injured also increased from 375 early Friday to 445, the report added.
The victims came from Cebu City, Cebu province, Lapu-Lapu City, Siquijor and Bohol, the hardest hit by the powerful earthquake.
Subsequently, with the retrieval of body, the number of missing persons is now at 19 as of this posting.
