House of Surigao City village bet ransacked

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A candidate for barangay chairman in Surigao City lost about P600,000 in cash and valuables to three armed robbers right inside his home last Tuesday morning, police said.

In a report to the regional police office, the Surigao City police said the robbers broke into the house of Jimmy Godinez Pulvera in Barangay Bonifacio, tied up his brother-in-law, Teofilo Turtoga Suello, and then ransacked the place.

The robbers fled with a black bag containing P500,000 in cash as well as valuables worth over P100,000.

Earlier, Pulvera’s family expressed fear for his life as he got death threats through text messages right after he had filed his certificate of candidacy for chairman of Barangay Bonifacio.
