Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon "Tino" is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) while the number of fatalities from Typhoon "Santi" has increased to 15, authorities said Tuesday.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tino has slightly weakened after exiting the PAR. It was last observed at 1,190 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 185 kph.

Meanwhile, the death toll from Typhoon Santi rose to 15 after the body of a previously missing person in Kabuggao, Apayao was found in Punta, Abulag, Cagayan River on Monday morning.

Five people remain missing to date while 32 people are injured, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.

Santi barreled through Luzon over the weekend, affecting over 870,000 people in 14 provinces.

More than 53,000 houses were damaged by the typhoon, which caused flooding in some areas while uprooting trees and knocking down power lines.

The NDRRMC said P1.1 million damages to infrastructure and P3.07 billion damages to agriculture were incurred from Santi.
