Kidnapped Zambo trader released

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A Filipino-Chinese businessman who was seized last Oct. 5 was freed by his kidnappers on Wednesday in Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur after his family, police sources alleged, paid P500,000 ransom.

Combined police forces found the victim, Lee Tan, 37, in Barangay Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay town at 8:45 a.m. last Wednesday, said Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesman of the Region 9 police.

Tan’s family could not be reached for comment on the alleged ransom.
