MANILA, Philippines - Earthquakes hit some parts of the country yesterday but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said two quakes of magnitudes 3.9 and 2.3 hit parts of Antique at 11:57 a.m. and 12:03 p.m., respectively.
The magnitude 3.9 quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Barbaza, Tibiao and Culasi in Antique; Intensity 3 in Sebaste, also in Antique; and Intensity 1 in Lezo, Aklan. Its epicenter was traced some four kilometers southeast of Barbaza.
The other quake was located at 11 kms northwest of Barbaza. It was felt at Intensity 2 in Barbaza, Tibiao and Culasi.
Meanwhile, a magnitude 4 quake rattled Basco, Batanes yesterday. It occurred at 10:02 a.m. and was centered at 27 kms southeast of Basco, where it was felt at Intensity 3.
