Baguio temperature drops

BAGUIO CITY , Philippines   â€“ The Christmas chill has started in this city with the temperature dropping yesterday morning to 13.5 degrees Celsius.

This temperature is so far the lowest since the “ber months” came in, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA also said it is anticipating a further temperature drop in the city in the coming days. The lowest temperature is usually reported in January.

PAGASA recorded Baguio’s lowest temperature in 2013 at 9.5 degrees last Jan. 14, only four degrees higher than Monday’s measurement.

On Feb. 4, 2012, the temperature in Baguio dropped to a record low of 10 degrees. Exactly one year before, on Feb. 4, 2011, Baguio also recorded its lowest at 9.4 degrees.

The coldest temperature recorded here so far was 6.1 degrees Celsius in January 1961. The lowest temperature recorded in recent years was 7.5 degrees Celsius on Jan. 15, 2009.
