'Quedan' intensifies but keeps moving away from Philippines

Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical storm "Quedan" slightly intensified while moving north over the Philippine sea, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) last observed Quedan at 880 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City and is moving north at 17 kilometers per hour.

Quedan is bearing maximum winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said Quedan is still not expected to affect any part of the country and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday based on the agency's storm track.

In its 24-hour weather forecast, PAGASA said Quezon Province, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with thunderstorms and isolated rainshowers.
