PAGASA: 'Quedan' will not yet affect any part of Phl

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Depression "Quedan" has maintained its strength and continues to move over the Philippine Sea, the state weather reported before noon Monday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 10 a.m., the cyclone's center was estimated at 800 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and was moving north northwest at a speed of 7 kph.

The storm was expected to move away from the Visayas area and move to the waters near Virac, Catanduanes on Tuesday morning.

PAGASA said the cyclone "will not yet affect any part of the country."

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, meanwhile, alerted its units in the areas in Visayas and Northern Luzon that may be affected by the tropical depression.
