Jennifer P. Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY , Philippines   â€“ A 27-year-man died while 34 others were hospitalized after showing symptoms of alleged food poisoning.

All of the victims consumed milk tea with milk pudding or leche flan from Sept. 24 to 25 that they bought from an outlet in Mandurriao district here.

The patients were treated at St. Paul’s Hospital, Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital, and St. Therese-MTCC Hospital after reportedly suffering stomach pain, dizziness, vomiting, and weakness. Of the 34, nine are still confined.

In an earlier report, Dr. Glen Jesse Alonsabe, Department of Health’s regional epidemiologist, identified the fatality as Ben Jason Cua Chang.

The police, city health office and the Food and Drug Administration have started their probe of the incident.

The management of the milk tea outlet said they are awaiting the results of the investigation.
