MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has signed two new laws creating fishports in Sasmuan, Pampanga and Calabanga, Camarines Sur.
Republic Act 10621 provides for a fishport and a cold storage facility in Sasmuan town, and RA 10624 for a fishport in Barangay Sabang, Calabanga town.
Both fishports will be under the supervision of the Department of Agriculture through the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA). Their funding will be sourced from the annual General Appropriations Act.
The PFDA will coordinate with the concerned local government units in formulating the rules and regulations for the facilities.
Both laws were signed by Aquino last Sept. 6, and signed by acting Senate President Jinggoy Ejercito last June 6 and Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. last May 21.
