Agusan Sur dad survives ambush

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A councilor in La Paz, Agusan del Sur survived an ambush in the town proper last Tuesday, authorities said.

Councilor Allan de los Santos Lim, 42, reported to the Talacogon municipal police that he and his civilian security escort, Florencio Calaycay, 41, were on their way to this city aboard his Hi-Lux Toyota pick-up when ski mask-wearing men fired at them with M-16 rifles.

Three bullets hit the left portion of the councilor’s vehicle, nearly missing him, as he was the one driving.

Police recovered three cartridges believed to be from M-16 rifles at the ambush site.
