ANDA, Pangasinan, Philippines – The municipal government here has put up a P50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of those behind the killing of a 16-year-old high school student in her house last Saturday afternoon.
PO2 Rodrigo Gacayan told The STAR yesterday that Mayor Aldrin Celdran made this offer last Monday, two days after Ma. Julie Carlit was found dead with 17 stab wounds in her residence in Barangay Awag.
Posters about the reward and the call for justice for Carlit are scattered across the town.
Carlit, an honor student in the St. Nicho-las Anda Integrated School, lived alone as her siblings resided in different places.
Her aunt, Arlene Carlit, who lived at least 150 meters away, said she heard a shout for help Saturday afternoon, and when she rushed to her niece’s house, she found her lifeless with multiple stab wounds and a rope tied around her neck.
The victim’s belongings were in disarray, prompting police to believe that she fought back with her assailant.
Gacayan said they are pursuing a vital lead that could solve the case, but he refused to provide details.
