SCTEX to reopen to traffic on Tuesday

The Philippine Star

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines â€“ The Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will be opened to light vehicles starting on Tuesday afternoon, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said yesterday.

BCDA officials said the reopening of the SCTEX was made possible following the opening of the Bailey Bridge that would allow motorists to pass through the Clark-Porac segment of the SCTEX.

Arnel Paciano Casanova, BCDA president and chief executive officer, said the Bailey Bridge would be opened to traffic starting at 2 p.m. and would reconnect Clark to Subic.

“We recognize the role of the SCTEX in the socio-economic growth and development of Central Luzon. That is why the BCDA made sure that the closed segment of the expressway be opened to traffic at the least possible time without compromising the safety of the motorists,” Casanova said.

On Aug. 19, rains brought by Tropical Storm Maring caused soil erosion at the banks of the Pasig-Potrero river damaging a segment that serves as an approach to the Pasig-Potrero Bridge leading to the SCTEX.  – Ding Cervantes, Ric Sapnu, Dino Balabo
