Burglars hit Agusan treasurer’s office

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A few hours before the National Crime Prevention Week was launched at the Agusan del Norte provincial capitol here yesterday, the municipal treasurer’s office in Carmen town lost P75,000 in cash to burglars.

The town’s engineering office also lost some valuables.

Last Aug. 22, burglars also ransacked the municipal treasurer’s office in Alegria, Surigao del Norte, carting valuables, personal belongings and a steel cabinet that contained P94,000 in cash.

Police said they were still investigating the incidents.

Robberies, snatchings, highway robberies and other crimes against property have been on the rise in the Caraga region, causing alarm among residents.
