SCTEX motorists: Rush bailey bridge

Ric Sapnu, - The Philippine Star

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines â€“ Motorists plying the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) have called on the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) to fast-track the construction of a bailey bridge at the damaged portion of the toll road’s Pasig-Potrero Bridge in Porac town.

Earlier, the BCDA announced its plan to build a bailey bridge as temporary relief after a portion of the bridge collapsed when its embankment eroded at the height of Tropical Storm Maring last Aug. 20.

BCDA president and CEO Arnel Paciano Casanova, in an earlier statement, said they had discussed the bailey bridge’s construction with the Department of Public Works and Highways, assuring the public that it would be structurally safe and could withstand even strong lahar flows.
