MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday that it did not shell out additional funds to transfer Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged brains behind the P10-billion pork barrel scam, from Crame, Quezon City to Makati court to Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
PNP spokesman Reuben Sindac said the PNP leadership only utilized whatever resources available that time.
"Kung ano lang ang available resources meron tayo. We are working on available resources. Baka na re-align lang kung ano budget meron tayo for that purpose," Sindac told reporters. He, however, could not quantify how much the PNP hierarchy made available for the Napoles transfer.
Sindac also could not ascertain if the Department of Interior and Local Government will be earmarking a special fund when the trial proper starts, with security detail escorting Napoles from Fort Sto. Domingo to Makati City Court then back to her detention cell in Laguna.
Napoles, who is facing serious illegal detention charges, has been transferred to Fort Sto. Domingo from the Makati City jail due to security purposes.
