MANILA, Philippines - Heavy rains spawned by Tropical Storm Maring left a number of casualties and the Central Luzon and Metro Manila under water.
The devastation was so vast that many were left homeless, hungry and need help to quickly recover.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that P633.082 million worth of infrastructure and agriculture facilities were damaged as around 500 areas in 51 cities were left flooded.
The disaster pushed Filipinos not affected by the calamity to rise and help their fellowmen.
Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. (SEPCO), responded by helping 300 affected families in three barangays in Laguna washed their clothes soiled by the floods.
The Samsung service team brought washing machines, soaps and detergents in the villages of Macabling, Landayan, and Ibaba, in the cities of Sta. Rosa and San Pedro.
Through the activity, families avail of the free laundry service for five days.
